10 Questions for Operations Manager, Stephen Berg.

1. Why did you join the Pisgah Energy team?

I joined Pisgah Energy because I wanted to be part of a team with a strong reputation and deep expertise, while still maintaining the local feel. As soon as I walked in the door, I knew right away this is where I wanted to be.

2. What drew you to work in renewable energy initially?

I’ve always been interested in work that creates a lasting, positive impact. I really didn’t know much about renewable energy when I started as an electrician, but as soon as I got a taste, I was all in.

3. What excites you most about the future of renewable energy?

I’m excited to see how innovation and new technologies will continue to make renewable energy more accessible and reliable. It’s always fun to be part of an industry that is constantly evolving and making a meaningful difference. You can’t say that for every industry.

4.  What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had?

The weirdest job I’ve had was working the overnight shift at a plastics factory in the small town of Wapello, Iowa. On any given night, we might be making refrigerator drawers or dashboards for Winnebagos. It wasn’t so much a weird job as it was an unexpected stop along the path that eventually brought me to Pisgah Energy.

5. Is there a ‘Next Big Adventure’ you’d like to go on?

Our next big adventure is hopefully a family trip to Montana. And once the kids are a little older, we’d love to explore overseas and create some unforgettable memories together.

6. Do you have a favorite meal and/or dessert?

Hmmm…. I’d have to say tacos or pad thai (extra spicy of course).

7. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Spending time with the family, we are very close and enjoy playing around at home, browsing aisles of general stores, or doing a quick weekend adventure. Also, I love doing yardwork!

8. What kind of music is at the top of your list these days? 

Well, whatever mood I am in, I’ll always revert back to classics like James Taylor, Bob Dylan, or Creedence Clearwater Revival. Pretty much anything ripped from the Remember the Titans or Forrest Gump soundtracks has my ear.

9. Do you have a personal mantra or favorite quote?

I’ll have to go with my military background here as it still holds true today in my civilian life, “Integrity First, Service Before Self, Excellence in All We Do.”

10. Off the top of your head, what are three words that describe you?

Dependable, optimistic, and resilient
